In this episode, Dr. Eric Block talks with Michelle Jewsbury to discuss domestic violence and how victims can change and break free from the cycle of abuse.

Domestic violence is something that mostly happens behind closed doors. When a person has never been exposed to abuse, the first sign of domestic abuse leaves them stunned. Unfortunately, the victims of domestic violence get stuck in the cycle of abuse because they don’t speak up about what they are going through nor understand what they need to do to protect themselves at that point. Even though victims may feel stuck in an abusive relationship, it is possible to transform the relationship with proper help or, if necessary, even leave an abusive relationship. And once they make the necessary changes, the victims of abusive relationships become survivors with stronger inner power.

It is really amazing when a survivor is able to take their power and voices back. And then, they can live even better lives.

Michelle Jewsbury is an international philanthropist, speaker, author, and coach. Michelle believes that education is key to change. In August 2016, Michelle focused on ending domestic violence. Her desire to help victims of domestic violence came from personal experience in such a relationship.

In July 2017, Michelle founded ‘Unsilenced Voices,’ a 501(c)3 nonprofit focused on inspiring change in communities around the globe by encouraging victims to break free and survivors to speak up about domestic violence and sexual assault.
